Craftcation Neighborhood Hangouts

One day, lots of neighborhoods, one Craftcation community.

You don’t have to wait until Craftcation rolls around to get crafty together.

Craftcation Neighborhood Hangouts are casual creative get-togethers happening in different areas on the same day each quarter. They’re a way to meet creative people near you, make new friends and keep the Craftcation community connected all year long.

Each Hangout will be a little different—from crafting at a café or gathering for drinks to meeting at a park, beach, studio or backyard.

WANT TO JOIN A NEIGHBORHOOD HANGOUT?

Find a Neighborhood Hangout near you and come hang out! You might bring a project to work on, a snack or drink to share or simply yourself—each Hangout will have its own details.

You don’t have to be a past or current Craftcation attendee to join us. Crafty folks who haven’t been to Craftcation are welcome, too.

The Hangout location name and city/state will be listed publicly. Exact street addresses for private locations will only be shared with people who RSVP.

WANT TO BE NEIGHBORHOOD HANGOUT HOST?

Don’t see a Neighborhood Hangout near you? Maybe you should host one!

Hosting is intentionally low-lift. Think less “produce an event” and more “pick a place and invite crafty people to get together.” You don’t need to teach anything, organize an activity, provide supplies or buy food.

As a host, you’ll choose a time and place, share any details guests need to know and be the friendly face when everyone arrives. Your Hangout can happen at your home or studio or somewhere like a café, brewery, park, beach or other easy gathering place.

WE’LL HELP, TOO.

Craftcation will spread the word, collect RSVPs and keep you updated on who’s coming. Hosts aren’t expected to personally fund an event, and we may be able to help with modest gathering needs like snacks, refreshments or other simple touches. Let us know what would be helpful and we’ll talk through what might be possible.

If multiple people volunteer in the same area, we may connect you to see if co-hosting makes sense.

You don’t have to commit to every quarter. Choose as many or as few upcoming dates as work for you on the Host Interest Form.

A Buddy is a one-on-one connection designed to help members of our community support one another before/during/potentially after Craftcation. Alumni are asked to try and help make the first Craftcation a little more comfortable for our new attendees by sharing the tips and tricks that they’ve learned from their previous attendance, but the level of that connection will be ultimately created by each set of Buddies.
Some examples of activities for Buddies:
You may…
  • Live close enough to meet up outside of Craftcation (perhaps  during one of our quarterly Neighborhood Hangs!)
  • Decide to become year-round pen (internet?) pals.
  • Decide to meet up for lunches the week of Craftcation, or  schedule classes together.
  • Decide to share a friendly wave and smile as you pass in the halls.
You and your Buddy will decide what works best for you.

Reach out to lisa@dearhandmadelife.com and let us know that you/your Buddy cannot attend, and we will see about finding you an additional Buddy for Craftcation 2027.

If you wish to be reassigned, reach out to lisa@dearhandmadelife.com and let us know, and we will see about finding you each additional Buddies for Craftcation 2027.
