the urban craft center was started in 2008 by angharad jones. initially begun as just a studio located in the santa monica studios, it became quickly apparent that customers wanted to be able to buy their supplies at the ucc. in order to add a retail section, the ucc relocated to the edgemar center in santa monica since 2009. these days the ucc offers classes, studio space, and supplies, as well as hosts private events and parties. the ucc crew can be seen at local craft fairs like renegade, unique la and the fabulous patchwork festivals. they have been featured in the los angeles times magazine, daily candy, apartment therapy, la2day, hello craft and the la times (just to name a few!)
