sewing instructor, crafting journalist and author of Chic & Simple Sewing, Haynes has been published in The New York Times, New York Post, Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly and Daily Candy, and has appeared on NBC’s Today Show and on Martha Stewart Radio.

christine haynes grew up in small-town michigan and learned to sew from her mom, who learned from her grandmother. while living in chicago, and just after graduating from the school of the art institute of chicago, christine started her sewing business at the second chicago renegade craft fair, selling mostly wrap skirts.

after she moved to los angeles, she begin writing for craft zine which led to her first book with potter craft, chic & simple sewing. after publishing her book, it was a natural shift to teach sewing, which she does at sew la and the urban craft center. in addition, she still writes for magazines as well as her blog, design and sew clothing, and design sewing patterns.

her work has been featured in the new york times, the new york post, the los angeles times, martha stewart’s radio channel, people.com, la weekly, daily candy, and nbc’s today show, among others.
